Pilates uses an array of controlled movements performed on a mat, reformer or specially designed equipment.
This discipline builds a circle of strength around the center of the trunk, called the “Central Core”. Strengthening the muscles in this area protects the spine and internal organs. It also gives you the ability to control the upper and lower body areas while still protecting and stabilizing the spine.
The core stabilization exercises help to attain and maintain natural alignment, flexibility and a uniformly developed body with a sound mind enriching quality of life.
Pilates has been shown to be beneficial for: Recovering from injuries that need more specialized care - Those who wish to improve sports performance or dance - People who want “more” than the typical “gym” scene - Those with physical ailments such as back pain - Those wishing to reduce mental and physical stress - Elderly and those who desire a gentle, low impact activity - People with osteoporosis or scoliosis - Pregnant women - EVERYONE ELSE
